{"id":2516,"date":"2014-01-14T14:21:01","date_gmt":"2014-01-14T14:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sapanama.org\/?page_id=2516"},"modified":"2025-10-07T13:07:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T13:07:17","slug":"sexual-anonymous-why-should-i-give-up-lust","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.sapanama.org\/en\/sexual-anonymous-why-should-i-give-up-lust\/","title":{"rendered":"Sexual Anonymous Why should I give up lust?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Yet <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>Our crippling handicap had been our lack of humility (12 &amp; 12 71). <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">At my first meeting, as I listened to the other members list their methods of acting out, I thought, &#8220;I never did this; I never did that.&#8221; I even said to other member after the meetings, &#8220;I am grateful I never did this or that behavior.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Soon, I ran into a member with long-term sobriety who had a one-word response to my statements: &#8220;Yet.&#8221; After hearing that about a dozen times, it finally sunk in. God was saying through him that it was just a matter of time before I did those behaviors-unless I put the focus on myself and started working the Steps on me. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I took his one-word advice to heart and have since achieved a little over five years of sobriety. Every time I start to compliment myself for the addictive behaviors I have no engaged in, I hear &#8220;Yet&#8221; and surrender my pride to God. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>Higher Power, help keep me sober because only sobriety keeps me from doing tomorrow what I despise today. <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yet Our crippling handicap had been our lack of humility (12 &amp; 12 71).
